THORNTON EXTREME MAKEOVER...extreme enough!

THE THORNTON MAKEOVER was so needed!

After near 3 years of busy-ness with our business, and busy-ness and travel with a prior business for 3 years, our home was so neglected.

Plans were to move Coen from his room to the basement/office/scraproom/fill it with anything you don't know what to do with it space, the office to Lindsey's small room, and Lindsey to a bigger room, that was Coen's.

Organizing started in the spring of sorting, throwing away, giving away. It continued with placing things on craigslist.com and organizing more...the more we organized, the more we found to be organized. The mountain grew through the summer with no end in sight. Only a dream of someday being able to conquer this massive project.

Before Thanksgiving, I realized, I really wanted to finish and claim it as Christmas for the family. So, Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, we started painting the basement ... half the basement. The other half had nowhere to go ... yet.

Lindsey, painting Coen's new window, with the blue he chose. His plans are to have this blue, lime green and chocolate brown.

The first part was painted and furniture moved in. The weekend following Thanksgiving, he cleaned out the rest of his old closet and room to allow us the ability to paint Lindsey's new room. Once all painting and moving were done, the second half of his room/old office was painted.
Vickie, the fastest and best painter I know, helped us with the entire transition.

Lindsey used a wall hanging and pillow to inspire her room color. Her room is now bright and full of life. The white and pink accents this yellowish green, honeydew melon room quite well!
This experience was Lindsey's second experience painting. But this time, she didn't stop painting till all the projects were completed. She learned how to remove outlet covers and paint around them as well as around the windows. She also learned how to roll the walls.
Very diligent.

Coen did help...some. Glad to have him when he was available. He moved boxes, beds, dressers, computers, etc though. I'd rather paint.
And some not so diligent!

Lindsey was able to start fresh and new with an organized closet.
Still not complete, but her room...one with room to play and be a girl!
Note: Sandie at Lindsey's bedside while sleeping.

Next was the office. We downsized our basement desk, organized and waa-laa, here it is! We couldn't be more pleased. During Christmas, Mike, our brother-in-law, upgraded our computer to give us more storage and memory, and now, it is just a wonderful office!
Again, not finished, needs curtains. But here's where we are so far.

Painting Michael and my bathroom was next. It is still not complete, almost done. But had been placed on hold for the last 3 years.
A week prior to Christmas, I received a surprise phone call from Becky Qualls, who wanted to give us their living room furniture as they were getting new. The Qualls, Crosbys, Sommerkamps and I planned a day makeover for our living room to surprise Michael with on Christmas Eve. It entailed cleaning out the garage to ready for furniture to store until sold on craigslist or donated; done with 18 degree weather. Brrr!
Christmas Eve, after Michael FINALLY went to work, I called Vickie and the Qualls to alert that OPERATION EGGNOG was to proceed. (Becky had called it that while in planning stages!) Vickie and Mike came to move furniture, vacuum, and ready my home for the makeover. The Qualls and Rocky (an incredible neighbor of theirs) came with our new furniture. Later that morning, Buck and Alex came to retrieve the sleeper sofa for Alex's room.
OPERATION EGGNOG crew:
Tanner Qualls, Taylor Qualls, Becky tucked behind Taylor, Mike Qualls,
Mike Crosby, Coen, and Rocky.
Lindsey is in front.
Alex and Buck with cinnamon rolls and a sleeper sofa in their Durango.
Coen enjoying our new living room.
