It's MUSIC to my ears!

Mrs. Ronda Moore, Lindsey's piano teacher
and Lindsey after the recital
December 12th at 7:00 p.m.
at New Summit Presbyterian Church

Lindsey had one request when she was encouraged to take piano: As long as I don't have to play in a recital. Agreed. Only if Lindsey wants to.

When it was announced that Mrs. Moore's students were going to have a Christmas recital, only 3 months after she started taking, Lindsey's initial response was "No, I'm not going to do it."

I had informed her that within the next 3 years, I wanted her to be in front of people, an audience. Just once, but at least once. And that audience experience could be a piano recital, a play, debate, choir, bible quizzing, or any other option she could come up with.

I encouraged her that if she would commit to this recital, and had difficulty learning the piece of music, that she could gracefully bow out as long as we informed Mrs. Moore early enough in the process; not the evening of the performance because of butterflies in her stomach. She agreed.

Much practice later, and she memorized her "Jingle Bells" selection. She practiced playing for others at the Ellis home during our Southern Hospitality Christmas party and did great playing on their grand piano.

The night of the recital, she was the first student to perform. She did absolutely beautiful during her performance and even engaged with the audience by looking at them after she completed.

To her surprise, Coen yelled "GO LINDSEY" after she finished! It tickled her almost as much as his comment during their embrace when she returned to her seat of "I'm so proud of you". Her daddy gave her a dozen pink long stem roses after the recital was over.

The Crosbys came to watch and listen; we all enjoyed cookies and coffee afterwards at the church with the Corzalles since Quincy and Tessa also performed.

Upon our return to home, we entertained the Crosbys with Lindsey's menu of hot cocoa, popcorn, cookies (Tea Time Tassies) and candy (Homemade Chocolate Toffee).

We were all so proud of her accomplishment of performing before an audience as well as her ability to entertain!
